Sandra Wodarczak, who has acted as
the city recorder and treasurer for Yamhill for the last eight years,
was arrested by Yamhill's sheriff's department on allegations that she
has stolen more than $18,000 from the city's coffers.
After an investigation was launched last week by the sheriff's
department, information was uncovered that linked Wodarczak to the
missing funds. The sheriff's department initiated its investigation
after the city conducted an internal audit and discovered that more than
$18,000 was missing from the city's operating accounts, according to an
article in The Oregonian.
According to Ken Summer, the sheriff's department's spokesman,
Wodarczak was arrested by deputies and booked into Yamhill County Jail
on charges of aggravated theft and official misconduct. She was later
released on her own recognizance.
"The missing funds appear to be from numerous transactions over the
past calendar year," said Jack Crabtree, the county sheriff.
Crabtree indicated that Wodarczak is cooperating with the
investigation into the missing funds. Anyone who possesses additional
information on this case has been asked to contact Sergeant Russ
